INGREDIENTS AND VARIATIONS FOR MAKING DANISH

  • Crescent Rolls : Crescent Roll has endless possibilties to make awesome both savory and sweet recipes. Replace crescent roll with puff pastry sheets.
  • Cream Cheese : As Cream cheese another ingredients where the chioces are endless, make your favourite filling sweet or savory. 
  • Granulated Sugar : Sugar sweetens the crescent roll as well the the cream cheese. While you can add some brown sugar to the crescent roll, preferbly use white sugar to sweeten the cream cheese. Totally for the color.
  • Fruit Spread /Jam : Use fresh fruits , any fruit spread homemade or store brought. If making few you can prefer from the store as you need only few spoonsful.
  • Icing Sugar : Icing sugar make a nice white glaze, optional if you do not prefer.
  • Butter : To brush the danishes before baking , adds extra crisp , color and a nice flavor.
  • Milk : Few drops of milk to prepare the glaze.
  • Vanilla Essence : Adds flavor to the cream cheese filling, skip if you not like.

WHAT IS A CRESCENT ROLL? WHAT CAN YOU MAKE WITH IT?

Crescent Roll is a  pastry dough, made with flour and butter rolled thin to perfection. It expands in to a flakly, buttery upon baking. 

This pastry dough is skilfully rolled into a tube and readily available in markets. This pastry sheet is pre cut in to triangles. Roll them and bake to make crossiants.

Sprinkle and press some herbs to make it tastier for savory recipes. Sprinkle and press sugar to make desserts like danish.

 

HOW TO MAKE DANISH PASRTY WITH CRESCENT ROLL?

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degree F.
  2. Unroll a crescent roll, and join the precut triangles,  to resemble a rectangle. 
  3. Sprinkle sugar and press to sweetened the pastry dough.
  4. Cut the rectangle into thin strips of equal size, length wise.
  5. Now twist each strip holding at both the ends. Fold into a cirlcle starting at one end loosely.
  6. Tuck the other end under the circle to secure tightly.
  7. Sweeten cream cheese with sugar and add a spponful at the center. Add rasberry or any chioce of jam as needed.
  8. Brush edges with butter and bake in a preheated oven  for 10 minutes.
  9. Glaze them with sugar, or dust some sugar over and enjoy.

A quick and easy shorcut version of your favourite bakery pastry. Ready in just 10 minutes this will serve great at breakfast or brunch.

Equipment

  • Conventional Oven
  • Baking Tray
  • Parchment Paper (optional)
  • Bowl to mix

Ingredients

  • 1 Crescent Roll
  • 2 Oz Cream Cheese for 12 pieces
  • 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp Icing Sugar
  • 1- 2 tsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 2 tbsp Fruit Jam or fresh fruit optional

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven to 375°F/190°C
  • Mix Cheese and Sugar till smooth. Add Vanilla Essence if desired. Set aside.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper or with butter to avoid sticking.
  • Open an Crescent Roll and join TWO triangles to form a rectangle. Tap with fingers to join. Sprinkle sugar and tap with fingers.
  • Slice the rectangle into three equal size strips lengthwise.
  • Twist each piece from both ends to form a rope. Starting at one end form a cirlce loosely and tuck the end to secure.
  • Use Thumb.finger to make space in center. Filling it with a spoonful of cheese filling. Add fuits or jam if desired. Brush edges with butter.
  • Bake at 375°F/190°C for 10 minutes. Till edges are brown

Notes

Oven temperatures vary, bake for extra minutes (usually a minute or 2) keeping an eye. Mine took exactly 10 minutes to brown.

    this was an easy recipe to follow, and it was great to have freshly made cheese danish in a very short time. i topped some of them with jalapeno pepper jelly. delicious! no more danish from the bakery department at the grocery store – i’ll be making my own cheese danish from now on.
