Who doesn’t love lemons especially in summer? There is nothing like lemons on a summer day , citrusy , zesty to brighten any dull day. May it be lemonade on a hot summer day or to zing up any recipe, Lemons are the beautiful fruit nature has given us. Why not make some decor that reminds us of their vibrant color?
Lemon themed decor has been in trendy for a while now. Every store you visit has something or the other decorated in yellow or with lemons. They are very catchy to the eye as well expensive too.
If you wanted to change decor seasonally and do not want to repeat decorating year after year with the same one, then this DIY’s are for you.
They are inexpensive, easy and fun to make projects. You can use any existing decor and paint them to make new trending decor on a low budget.
This seasonal decor is one that any one can fall in love with? Not until i made these myself. They added the nice fresh zesty vibrancy feel in my house.

Lemon Decor # 1 'SQUEEZY DAY'
MATERIALS FOR THIS DECOR
Wooden Crate : A small wooden crate available at all craft stores, dollar tree sells smaller crates.
Paints : White acrylic or chalk paint, yellow and green paint to draw lemons, black paint or black marker to write any quote.
Black Gingham fabric/Ribbon : Black gingham fabric compliments the yellow lemons so well. Use fabric or Ribbon.
Flower Emblishments : Any premade flower emblishments works well. I have used a handmade fabric flower i have in hand.
Pencil : To write if you prefer hand writing or trace any quote.
Glue gun : Glue gun and glue sticks to attach the ribbon/fabric ends.
Scissors : To cut ribbon fabric.
HOW TO MAKE LEMOn DECOR?
Step 1
Paint the wooden crate with white acrylic or chalk paint. Paint all outer sides. Some require a couple of coats. Allow to dry in betwwen coats. It dries very quickly.
STEP 2
When completly dry trace any quote or write any quote with pencil.
With a black maker or a black paint trace the quote slowly. Do not worry being perfect, it is handmade not a print to look alike unless you want to look it like one.
STEP 3
when the quote is dry, let’s draw some lemons. You can mark first with a pencil, like two small ovals. Or dip a paint brush in yellow and draw to ovals as shown.
Add two leaves with green paint.
You can use yellow and green markers if you do not feel using paint and brushes.
STEP 4
Now it’s time to warp the fabric around. Cut a long strip of fabric or ribbon of chioce to wrap around wooden crate. Tie a knot and wrap the fabric around leaving some to tuck to the inside of the crate.
Glue the ends to the inside to secure.
STEP 5
Use a chioce of flower embishment to add in the front. I have a handmade fabric flower in yellow that goes well with the theme so using it.
Add a bow with yellow ribbon or fabric and attach it to complete the look.
STEP 6
To complete the final look i outline the words and lemons with black marker. this helps them pop up a bit.
Lemon Decor # 2 with fabric lemons
required materials for this diy
Wooden sign : I am reusing a farm themed sign from dollar tree.
Yellow Fabric : To make lemons.
Black Gingham fabric/Ribbon : Black gingham fabric compliments the yellow lemons so well. Use fabric or Ribbon.
Pearl Emblishments : Any pearl or stone emblishments to decorate
Pencil/Marker : To write if you prefer hand writing or trace any quote.
Glue gun : Glue gun and glue sticks to attach the ribbon/fabric ends.

Steps to create lemon decor with fabric
Step 1
Paint the outer edges of the wooden sign as required with white chalk or acrylic paint. As i am re using an existing farm decor i have painted to appear blank. No need to paint the inside as we will cover it with fabric.
STEP 2
Draw a lemon shape on a card board and cut two pieces. You can trace or draw lemon from any picture you have in hand. It isn’t hard just an oval shape and sharpen on end to look like a lemon.
Cut it and trace this shape on the back side of any yellow fabric.
Leave an inch of fabric while cutting.
STEP 3
Apply modpodge to the cardboard and stick the it to the wrong side of the fabric.
Cut along the edges of the fabric making slits 1/2 inch apart.
Apply modpodge to the slits and fold the fabric on to the cardboard.
STEP 4
Cut three tear shaped leaves using the black ginhgam fabric and a small piece to look like stem.
Glue the leaves and stem to the lemons as shown.
STEP 5
Trim the ends of a black fabric to fit the inside of the wooden sign.
Apply Modpodge to the inside of the box and attch the trimmed fabric.
Step 6
Glue both the lemon together as shown, overlapping each other
Step 7
Cut 2 or 3 one inch pieces of craft sticks and glue to the center of the box.
This creates a raised block for the lemons.
STEP 8
Glue the lemons to the center of the box. Add a pearl to the center of leaves.
Finish off the project by writing any quote on the top with a marker.
